Twinning
The two lions in the Berkshire coat of arms derive from the arms attributed to the Norman kings, with whom the county has close associations. Reading Abbey was founded in 1121 by Henry I, King of England and Duke of Normandy. His body was interred there following his death in 1135.
Thames Valley Society of Chartered Accountants signed a twinning agreement (le joumelage) in 1995 at Phyllis Court, Henley-on-Thames with the Conseil Régional de l’Ordre des Experts-Comptables – Normandie.
Our tenth anniversary celebration was held in Rouen in 2005 and our twentieth anniversary was held in Old Windsor, in 2015 which was attended by just under a dozen delegates from Normandy.
TVSCA celebrated the 30th anniversary of its twinning agreement with a visit to Le Havre in Normandy on 8 October 2025, comprising a harbour cruise; a conference on digital reporting; a presentation commemorating 30 years of twinning, and an evening of celebration. Many thanks to our colleagues and friends in Normandy for arranging an excellent and enjoyable day of events.

The Reading Tech Cluster
The Reading Tech Cluster was co-founded in 2024 by TVSCA members Michael Cooper OBE (Past President), Cllr. Biyi Oloko (Past President) and Dr Keith Arundale, setting out a vision for the Reading Tech Cluster. It is now a not-for-profit company which aims to help make the region the best place to start, grow or locate a technology firm in the UK. It connects growing firms with the vital help they need for success: investment, expertise, knowledge, skills, talent, community, contacts, representation, profile. There is a link below to Keith Arundale’s presentation following the 2025 TVSCA AGM about the establishment of Reading Tech Cluster, its inaugural Investment Summit at Henley Business School, and plans for the future.
